Advisory Roles

Has invested, advised, and served as board member on twenty different start-up companies, focusing mostly on marketing strategy needs. Many of the recent businesses are cloud-based companies. Companies include RingCentral, Pandexio, IvyTalk, and Globys.

NextWave Broadband, Henderson, NV

Served as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the NextWave Network Solutions Group. Laid the groundwork for fourth-generation wide area wireless networks.   Work involved visioning, partner relations, and network technology planning.

Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), San Francisco, California

Held variety of leadership roles in 11 years as a Partner with Accenture.  Most recently led a global partner team in the creation of a bold new strategy for the almost $4 billion Communications & High Technology industry group, aimed to take advantage of the significant changes underway in the IT industry and at Accenture clients.  Prior to that role served as client partner at two strategically important clients for Accenture -- Intel and AT&T Wireless.  Also served as the lead partner for Marketing Strategy within the global Communications and High Technology practice.  Was the Resource Unit Managing Partner for Strategic Services (all industries) for the Western United States.  In addition to these roles, led major projects for a wide variety of telecommunications and high tech clients in the United States and elsewhere.

Leschi Associates, Seattle, Washington

Spent 3 years operating a successful independent consulting firm that specialized in strategy and marketing projects for telecommunications and information services companies across the United States.

McCaw Cellular Communications, Seattle, Washington

Served as the Chief Marketing Officer in 3 years with McCaw (which became AT&T Wireless) as the Corporate Director of Marketing. Responsible for national marketing strategies and coordinating field marketing, reporting to the President/COO.  During tenure the company grew 40% annually to roughly $750 million, and attracted much attention for its innovation and industry leadership.

Contour Window Fashions, Seattle, Washington

Was the Vice President of United States Operations, responsible for all aspects of establishing this start-up home-fashions retail chain in the U.S.  Successfully launched the first three stores, beating the typical store start-up volumes by 72%, and developed the infrastructure and franchise filings to support future growth.

Canadian Pacific Airlines, Vancouver, Canada

Vice President of Passenger Marketing in this $1 billion international airline, was responsible for maximizing passenger revenues through pricing actions, advertising and promotional programs, product/service development, and seat-inventory management.  Also served as a member of the Operations Management Committee.

McKinsey and Company, Toronto & Vancouver, Canada, and San Francisco, California

Consulted to senior management of a broad range of international companies, helping to solve business problems relating to strategy, operations efficiency, and organizational effectiveness.  Worked out of offices in Toronto and San Francisco, and was helping open a Pacific Northwest practice out of an outpost office in Vancouver.
